Maina Njenga, former Mungiki’s leader and the other person he was accused with case has been withdrawn by the director of public prosecutions.

They argued that the case be withdrawn since 20 witnesses who were to testify were not willing to testify in court due to their relations with the defendant among other reasons.
The court then directed that Maina Njenga, and the other 11 defendants be discharged, their bonds refunded, and their phones returned.
The accused members were facing charges relating to membership in the criminal gang Mungiki and engaging themselves in organized crimes at his house in Wanyororo, Nakuru County on May 12th, 2023.
Since then, Maina Njenga had been seeking to have charges against him dropped.
