Bruno Fernandes has officially been named the Premier League Player of the Season for 2025/26 following a remarkable campaign that helped drive Manchester United back into UEFA Champions League qualification places.
The United captain delivered one of the most influential individual seasons in recent Premier League history, combining leadership, creativity and consistency across the campaign. Fernandes finished the season with eight league goals and an extraordinary 20 assists equalling the all-time Premier League record for most assists in a single season previously held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
His performances proved decisive in Manchester United’s push to secure a top-three finish after a season that demanded resilience and leadership from the squad. Fernandes also led the league in chances created, underlining his role as the heartbeat of United’s attack throughout the campaign.

The Portuguese midfielder beat competition from several standout performers across the division, including players from Arsenal, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Brentford to claim the award.
The honour adds to an already memorable year for Fernandes, who had earlier collected the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award, confirming his place among the elite performers of English football this season.
For Manchester United supporters, the recognition is more than an individual prize it is another sign of the club’s revival. And with one league match still remaining, Bruno Fernandes now has the opportunity to set a new Premier League assist record outright and cap off a season that will be remembered at Old Trafford for years to come.
