The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a two-week partial closure of the Ngong Road/Naivasha Road section at Junction Mall to facilitate ongoing roadworks.
According to a public notice issued on Sunday, May 17, the affected stretch will be closed nightly from Monday, May 18, 2026, to Sunday, May 31, 2026, between 8:00 PM and 4:00 AM. The daytime hours will remain open to traffic.
KURA stated that the closure is necessary to allow contractors to carry out asphalt works as part of the final phase of road construction and finishing works on the busy corridor.

The authority said the works are part of efforts to improve road quality and enhance traffic flow along the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road junction, which experiences heavy usage during peak hours.
Motorists have been advised to plan for possible delays during the night-time closure period and to follow traffic management instructions that will be provided on-site to minimize disruptions.
KURA urged motorists to use alternative routes during the two-week partial night closure of the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road section at Junction Mall, while also advising strict adherence to traffic police and marshals deployed on site.
The authority apologised for the inconvenience caused, saying the works are part of ongoing efforts to transform urban mobility.
The announcement comes shortly after Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo confirmed that the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road flyover project is in its final stages, with key structural components already completed.
Remaining works include deck slab installation, asphalt surfacing, road markings, and lighting infrastructure.
The 800-metre elevated dual carriageway, which includes a 254-metre steel bridge, is designed to separate through-traffic from local access, easing congestion along the busy Junction Mall interchange.
The project also incorporates pedestrian walkways, cycling lanes, and improved drainage systems.
Once completed, the flyover is expected to significantly reduce traffic between Ngong Town and Nairobi’s CBD while improving access towards key infrastructure such as the Talanta Stadium ahead of AFCON 2027.
