The Directorate of Criminal Investiagations (DCI) have apprehended three suspected criminals following a dramatic chase along Kangundo Road.
During the operations, the authority recovered a pistol, ammunition, and dozens of suspected stolen electronic devices.
The incident unfolded near the Saika stage along Kangundo Road when police officers on routine patrol spotted a motorcycle carrying a rider and two pillion passengers approaching from Kangundo Road.
According to authority, the suspects immediately sped off into the densely populated Saika Estate after noticing the officers, prompting police to launch a high-speed pursuit through the neighbourhood.
Eventually, the officers intercepted the motorcycle, however, the two passengers jumped off and fled in separate directions, which triggered a foot chase through the busy Eastlands estate.
During the chase, one of the fleeing suspects allegedly dropped an object while attempting to escape.
Despite that, the police recovered the item and arrested the suspect moments later.
According to the police, the object turned out to be a Retay Falcon pistol loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Additionally, the motorcycle rider was also arrested at the scene as detectives intensified efforts to trace the third suspect, who had disappeared into the sprawling estates.
Furthermore, the detectives tracked the remaining suspect to a house in Dandora Phase Four, where detectives conducted an operation that led to his arrest.
The three suspects are currently in custody pending investigations and arraignment in court.
