The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has charged a former Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) employee over allegations of forging academic certificates.
According to a statement by the EACC, the suspect allegedly forged a Diploma certificate in Community Health Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), a Nursing Certificate from the Nursing Council, and a KCSE certificate from Matende Secondary School.
“A former employee of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has been charged before the Kakamega Anti-Corruption Court for allegedly forging academic certificates and using them to secure employment at the institution,β EACC stated.
According to reports, the suspect was arrested and arraigned at the Kakamega Law Courts on 12th May 2026, where she faced multiple charges.
Upon completion of the investigations, EACC forwarded the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for review and further direction on whether to prefer criminal charges against the suspect.
The accused denied all charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh500,000 or a bond of Ksh1 million, with a surety of a similar amount, pending the hearing of the case in court, which continues as scheduled.
The matter is set to be mentioned on 28th May 2026 for pre-trial directions and to fix a hearing date at the Kakamega Anti-Corruption Court for further case management before the trial commences, as the prosecution prepares evidence briefs.
