Former Public Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has criticised DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua following his remarks on the Africa Forward Summit.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 13, Kuria argued that Gachagua’s comments portrayed a leader who was not focused on Kenya’s broader national interests.
The former Gatundu South MP defended Kenya’s hosting of the high-profile summit, saying the event was a significant achievement for the country and should be embraced by all patriotic Kenyans despite political differences.

Kuria also challenged the former Deputy President to show his level of engagement with the international community since joining the opposition, further escalating the growing political rivalry between the two leaders.
“The timing and flavour of Rigathi Gachagua’s comments on the Africa Forward Summit is further proof of a leader who does not care for this great nation. We may have our local differences, but for Kenya to host an event of this magnitude is something that all well-meaning Kenyans should be proud of. I challenge Rigathi Gachagua to post even one photo of him meeting any diplomat as an opposition leader. Which leader of opposition can go for almost 2 years without meeting the international community?” said Kuria.
Gachagua on May 12 criticised the Africa Forward Summit, terming it a political sideshow aimed at diverting Kenyans from pressing national concerns.
The former Deputy President claimed the summit was being used by President Ruto to create a positive image despite ongoing challenges facing citizens.
Gachagua also accused Emmanuel Macron of being linked to the controversial Rironi-Mau Summit road project, alleging French companies benefited from compensation following the cancellation of earlier contracts.
He further alleged that more than KSh7 billion was irregularly diverted from the Fuel Levy Fund to pay the firms and questioned the cost of a new KSh200 billion road contract awarded by the government.
