Motorists in Nairobi have been advised to prepare for major traffic disruptions beginning next week as the government hosts the high-profile Africa Forward Summit 2026.
In a statement by the Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, the government announced that heavy movement of Very Very Important Persons (VVIPs) is expected between May 10 and May 12, affecting several major routes within and around the capital.
According to the Government Spokesperson, the roads expected to experience heavy traffic and intermittent disruptions include Mombasa Road, Lang’ata Road, Thika Road, Limuru Road, and Kiambu Road.
Following the traffic advisory note, members of the public have been urged to avoid the affected areas where possible and follow directions issued by traffic police officers to minimise delays.
The Africa Forward Summit, which will be co-hosted by William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, is scheduled to take place in Nairobi from May 11 to May 12, 2026.
According to reports, the event is expected to attract more than 30 heads of state from across Africa, global investors, business leaders, and thousands of delegates.
Further reports indicate that the discussion during the summit will focus on innovation, investment, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, youth empowerment, and economic partnerships between Africa and France.
