In a statement issued on Friday, May 8, Gachagua urged the police chief to clarify the circumstances surrounding the killing and to inform the public on the progress of investigations into the incident.

Gachagua also called for reassurance on the safety of PCEA clergy, emphasizing the need to safeguard freedom of worship and expression as guaranteed under the Constitution.

The former Deputy President stressed that swift and transparent action was necessary to restore public confidence following the incident.

Gachagua condemned the killing of Reverend Julius Ngari Ndumia, describing it as a shocking crime that has caused fear among PCEA clergy across the country.

The DCP Party leader moreover accused police of inaction, claiming that no arrests had been made and no official statement had been issued several days after the incident.

He expressed concern over what he termed as rising insecurity targeting churches and church leaders, urging swift investigations and action from law enforcement.

Gachagua also extended condolences to the family and congregation of the slain pastor, describing the killing as brutal and deeply disturbing.

He further called on church leaders to speak out against what he described as attacks on the church, while urging police to address growing cases of church break-ins and theft.

Reverend Julius Ngari Ndumia was killed on the night of May 3 at the PCEA Tubaga Parish church residence in Bahati, Nakuru County.

Preliminary reports indicate that the attacker gained access to the compound in the early hours of Monday, May 4 before carrying out the fatal assault.

The pastor’s body was later found inside the living room of the residence.

An autopsy confirmed that he died from severe multiple head injuries.

Pathologist Dr. Titus Ngulungu, speaking on Wednesday, May 6, said the injuries included trauma to the head and neck, which led to suffocation and significant blood loss.
