Through a series of coordinated police operations across six counties, multiple arrests have been made and thousands of litres of illicit brew have been seized alongside significant quantities of drugs.
In a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the authority revealed that move is part of a sustained push to dismantle illegal supply chains and protect communities from substance abuse.
In Meru County, officers raided the Kaguma area in Gaitu East Location within Imenti Central Sub-County, seizing approximately 1,700 litres of illicit brew locally known as mugacha.
On the other hand, Bungoma County recorded some of the largest recoveries of the operation.
A separate crackdown in Mayanya Vitunguu, conducted with the support of National Government Administration Officers, led to the arrest of seven suspects and the recovery of 6,430 litres of kangara and 62 litres of chang’aa.
Nyamira County, a multi-agency team raided Miti Mbili Village and arrested two suspects, recovering 20 litres of a substance suspected to be chang’aa stored in a yellow jerrican.
Kiambu County officers on mobile patrol arrested one suspect found carrying 24 rolls of cannabis along with rolling papers, a pair of scissors, and a rolling flag, items that pointed to active drug distribution.
Nairobi also recorded an arrest, with one suspect found in possession of 80 rolls of bhang, highlighting the reach of narcotics networks in urban areas.
According to the authority, the scale of the recoveries highlights both the severity of the problem and the resolve of law enforcement to address it.
