Tanzanian Legislator Backs Kenya’s Choice of President Ruto

Tanzanian MPs showered President William Ruto with praise and songs of admiration following his address to the Tanzanian Parliament on Tuesday, May 5.

Ikungi West MP Elibariki Kingu described Ruto as highly favoured in Tanzania and said Kenyans made the right decision in electing him as President in 2022.

He further pointed to the warm relations between President Ruto and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu as evidence of his leadership qualities and suitability for office.

Kingu also invoked a biblical reference during his remarks, offering reassurance of divine protection over the Kenyan Head of State.

On her part, Same East MP Anne Kilango described President Ruto as a leader with a kind heart and genuine affection for the people of Tanzania.

Kilango commended Ruto’s call for stronger unity between Kenya and Tanzania, noting that closer ties would not only strengthen social relations but also boost regional development.

Tanzanian Chief Whip Prof Palamagamba Kabudi also praised Ruto for echoing the vision of founding father Julius Nyerere, who consistently advocated for East African integration and cooperation.

Tanga MP Kassim Mbaraka expressed appreciation to the Kenyan President for supporting plans to establish a major oil refinery in Tanga, saying the project would significantly uplift the region’s development prospects.

President Ruto, in his address, urged both nations to deepen cooperation by eliminating non-tariff barriers that continue to hinder trade and business between Kenya and Tanzania.

He became the second Kenyan Head of State to address the Tanzanian Parliament, following the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, with his speech set to be officially recorded in the Hansard.
