KeNHA Shuts Iten–Kabarnet Road After Landslide as Flood Crisis Deepens

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the closure of a section of the Iten-Kabarnet Road after a landslide triggered by floods blocked the route near Kolol.

In a statement, KeNHA noted that the ongoing rains pounding various parts of the country had caused the ground to give way, cutting off movement along the affected stretch.

According to the authority, restoration efforts are currently underway, with engineers deployed to clear debris and reinstate normal traffic flow as soon as possible.

Additionally, motorists who have not yet commenced their journeys have been advised to consider using the alternative route through Iten – Eldoret – Eldama Ravine – Kabarnet to avoid delays.

Those who have already on the road have been urged to exercise caution and strictly follow directions issued by police officers and traffic marshals stationed at the scene.

KeNHA further assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as progress is made in reopening the road.

It also appealed for patience and cooperation from road users, maintaining that safety remains the top priority during the ongoing adverse weather conditions.
