Kenya’s only 24-hour sports radio station, Sporty FM, officially celebrated its grand launch after several months of successful broadcasting.

The station, led by celebrated media personality Carol Radull, is reshaping sports coverage by giving attention to every discipline across the country.

Stars from football, rugby, tennis, boxing, archery, skating, and paralympics joined the event at Diamond Plaza II, making it a truly inclusive celebration.

Among the guests were football icons Victor Wanyama, McDonald Mariga, Anthony Kimani, Boniface Ambani, defender David “Cheche” Ochieng, alongside boxing champion Fatuma Zarika.

Political leaders including Eliud Owalo and Esther Pasaris also attended, praising the station’s impact on how sports are represented in Kenyan media.

The night featured the unveiling of Sporty FM’s new logo, with Carol Radull sharing highlights of the station’s achievements so far.

She proudly noted that Sporty FM hosted David Munyua before he made history as the first Kenyan to compete and win a round at the PDC World Darts Championship in December 2025.

Carol assured athletes and fans that Sporty FM will continue to provide a platform for their voices and stories, helping elevate sports in Kenya.

Speaking to media after the event, AFC Leopards Chairman Boniface Ambani praised the club’s impressive season as they sit second in the league.

He affirmed that his players are good enough for the national team and urged coach Benni McCarthy to attend matches and spot the quality.

“It all depends on the coach and what he wants. I don’t want to get into politics. We pray that one day he gets time to watch our matches and make his own judgment,” Ambani said.

He also vowed to beat Gor Mahia to the title, despite Leopards being two points behind the leaders with K’Ogalo holding a game in hand. He noted that the upcoming Mashemeji Derby – at the end of the month, would be a crucial match in determining the champions.

Though absent in person, legendary marathoner Eliud Kipchoge appeared on screen with a heartfelt message, congratulating Sporty FM and urging fans to support its mission.
