Authorities in Meru Recover 100 Goats in Anti-Theft Crackdown

Police officers in Meru and Isiolo counties have recovered 100 goats that had been stolen from Mbataru area in Tigania East.

In a coordinated operation aimed at curbing livestock theft and banditry in the region, the officers, who were following up on a reported theft of goats successfully traced and recovered the animals at the Manyatta Zebra Grazing Zone during patrols conducted yesterday.

According to reports, the operation was based on coordinated patrol efforts and timely intelligence gathered by security teams operating in the area.

“Yesterday, police teams that were following up on a reported theft of goats from the Mbataru area of Tigania East successfully recovered one hundred (100) goats at the Manyatta Zebra Grazing Zone. The recovery was made possible through coordinated patrol efforts and timely intelligence”, part of the statement read.

Further reports indicate that the recovered goats were positively identified by their rightful owner and later handed over in the presence of local administration officials.

According to the police, the recovery is part of ongoing security operations and patrols in Meru and Isiolo counties aimed at deterring incidents of banditry and livestock theft.

The continued presence and vigilance of security personnel are intended to maintain law and order, protect property, and safeguard the livelihoods of residents.

The National Police Service has reiterated its commitment to curbing stock theft and strengthening security interventions in areas affected by livestock-related crime.

“The success of the operation highlights the effectiveness of sustained security interventions and reaffirms the commitment of the National Police Service to curbing banditry, combating stock theft, and protecting community livelihoods”, the statement added.
