The Standard Group PLC has confirmed the appointment of Chaacha Mwita as its substantive Chief Executive Officer.
In a statement released on Wednesday, April 1, the Board of Directors said the appointment takes immediate effect following Mwita’s stint in an acting capacity and the conclusion of a formal evaluation process.
The company noted that the decision was made in line with the Capital Markets Regulations, 2023, and formally communicated to shareholders and the investing public.

Mwita has been serving as Acting CEO since July 2025, during which he is credited with steering the company’s strategic direction and maintaining operational stability.
He also oversaw the continued execution of the company’s key business objectives during his time in the acting role.
Explaining the decision, the Board said Mwita’s performance during his acting tenure met the expectations required for the role following a comprehensive review process.
It noted that the appointment followed a structured evaluation, which affirmed his leadership capability, experience, and suitability to take on the position on a substantive basis.
The Board also pointed to Mwita’s strong professional background, citing his experience in leadership, operations, and corporate strategy.
It added that he brings a proven track record in organisational management, stakeholder engagement, and the execution of strategic initiatives.
Mwita holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Nairobi.
The Board confirmed that his appointment complies with corporate governance and regulatory requirements for publicly listed companies.
It expressed confidence in his leadership and welcomed his role in advancing the company’s strategy, strengthening stakeholder trust, and enhancing long-term shareholder value.
