Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has suspended four students following a viral clip that saw them engaging in a violent altercation.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, during an afternoon session, where a routine class turned chaotic, leading to fistfights among the learners.
In the viral video, two students were captured attacking their peers in front of a full lecture hall as other students watched in shock and confusion.
However, the students appeared defenceless, who were overpowered and beaten in full view of their classmates.
The lecturer who was present in the room remained standing near a whiteboard holding a paper, seemingly unable to intervene as the violence unfolded.

According to the University those involved were identified, arrested and subjected to disciplinary action per the university’s Students’ Regulations Handbook, resulting in the suspension of the four students.
“Statements regarding the incident have been taken from the students who were assaulted, those who assaulted them, the lecturer and the class representative,” the University stated.
The school strongly condemned the act, describing it as violence and hooliganism that goes against the institution’s values.
“As an institution of Higher learning, we strongly condemn such acts of violence and hooliganism. We call upon all students to remain calm and maintain the spirit of comradeship, observing the rules and regulations that the university has put in place to ensure their safety,” the university added.
