KeNHA Cautions Drivers Against Using Flood-Hit Eldama Ravine–Molo Road

The Kenya National Highways Authority has warned motorists against using a section of the Eldama Ravine–Maji Mazuri–Molo Road after heavy rainfall.

In a notice on Sunday, March 22, 2026, the authority advised motorists using the route to exercise extreme caution and adhere to instructions from police officers and traffic marshals.

KeNHA has also encouraged motorists to consider using alternative routes, including Eldama Ravine–Mogotio–Salgaa–Nakuru, Eldama Ravine–Kabarnet–Marigat–Mogotio, and Nakuru–Salgaa–Ravine for those approaching from Nakuru.

The authority assured that it will implement additional measures to ensure safety along the route if water levels continue to rise.

“The situation has been occasioned by heavy rainfall in the upstream catchment areas, resulting in a significant rise in water levels,” KeNHA stated.

“KeNHA is closely monitoring the situation and will take appropriate action should water levels continue to rise. The Authority appreciates your cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of all road users,” it added.

This comes at a time when the country is experiencing heavy rains that have triggered flooding, rendering several roads impassable and displacing over 2000 families across various parts of the country, especially in major towns and cities.
