The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of a section of the Thika Superhighway at Globe Roundabout.
In a notice dated March 12, 2026, KeNHA stated that the highway will be partially closed at Globe Roundabout from Thursday, March 12, to Thursday, March 19, 2026, to allow engineers to carry out the restoration on the Nairobi River bridge.
According to the authority, several traffic diversions will be implemented during the period to ease movement and minimise congestion within the affected area.
Therefore, motorists travelling from Thika towards the Nairobi Central Business District will be required to use the Globe Overpass.
Additionally, those approaching Thika and heading towards University Way will be directed to Prof. Wangari Maathai road.
The authority also stated that motorists travelling towards Thika from Kiriyanga road and the OTC bus station will be required to use the ring road.
KeNHA further stated that the lane management and diversions may be introduced as technical investigations as stabilisation works continue at the site.
It urged motorists to exercise caution around the working areas and follow the proposed traffic management plan as well as cooperate with traffic marshalls on site.
