The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has warned motorists of expected traffic congestion during the Safari Rally, scheduled from March 12 to 15.
In a traffic advisory published on Wednesday, March 11, KeNHA Director General Luka Kimeli urged drivers to follow all traffic and road safety regulations.
The authority also cautioned that truck drivers found parking in undesignated areas along the highway will face strict penalties, including arrest.

To help motorists avoid delays, KeNHA recommended alternative routes, including the Scenic, Adventure, Thika Trail, and Suswa routes.
The Scenic Route from Nairobi to Lanet passes through Flyover (Magumu), Njambini, Ol Kalou, and Dondori.
The Adventure Route also starts in Nairobi and goes through Rironi, Naivasha, Engineer, Ol Kalou, and Dundori, merging traffic at Lanet.
Motorists are further advised to consider routes via Thika, Magumu, Ol Kalou, Dundori, and Lanet, or the Ngong–Suswa–Narok–Nakuru highway to avoid congestion.
KeNHA Director General Luka Kimeli reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users on Kenyan highways.
In previous years, long traffic jams during the Safari Rally have left motorists stranded for hours.
The event draws fans from across Kenya, East Africa, and beyond, all eager to witness the high-speed, high-risk motorsport spectacle.
