KeNHA Issues Final Warning Ahead of Demolitions in Delview, Kihunguro and Allsops

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued fresh evacuation notices to traders operating within the road reserve along Thika Superhighway.

In a statement on March 5, 2026, KeNHA said the notices were recirculated to traders operating at Delview and Kihunguro in Kiambu and at Allsops in Nairobi.

This comes after the earlier notice issued in February lapsed, with some traders still occupying the restricted areas.

Reports indicate that the exercise was conducted by the KeNHA Corridor C Management team led by Road Inspector Kennedy Karimi, who called for the traders to vacate the area immediately.

“The KeNHA Corridor C Management team, led by Road Inspector Kennedy Karimi, has recirculated the vacation from road reserve enforcement notices to traders operating within the road reserve along the Thika Superhighway at Delview, Kihunguro, and Allsops,” the Statement from KeNHA read.

The initial notice had been issued on February 23, 2026, directing traders operating on the road reserve to vacate the encroached sections to allow KeNHA to rehabilitate the highway.

However, despite the expiry of the notice, KeNHA said some traders had declined to vacate the restricted zones.

In the statement, KeNHA explained that the move was part of its broader road safety and road management initiatives along the busy highway.

“The traders are required to clear the areas to allow for the restoration and protection of the road reserve,” the statement further added.

The Authority further said reclaiming the road reserve would help reduce accidents along the highway and ensure smooth traffic flow.

“The exercise forms part of the Authority’s ongoing road safety and corridor management initiatives aimed at reducing accidents along the busy highway corridor, enhancing order within road reserve areas and ensuring unobstructed traffic flow on national highways,” KeNHA stated.

The authority also warned that enforcement action would be taken against any trader unwilling to comply to the directive.
