Police officers from Oyugis Police Station in Homa Bay County have arrested a 22-year-old suspect following a successful manhunt in Oyugis Town yesterday.
According to a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS), the suspect had earlier attempted to flee, abandoning a large quantity of illicit substances in the process.
During the operation, officers recovered approximately 600 rolls of bhang and 20 litres of chang’aa, marking a significant blow to the illegal narcotics and illicit brew trade in the area.

Police noted that the seizure is part of ongoing efforts by the National Police Service to curb criminal activities and reduce the circulation of illegal drugs and alcohol in the region.
The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court.
The confiscated items have been securely stored at Oyugis Police Station as investigations continue.
Police officials highlighted that operations of this nature reinforce the service’s commitment to public safety and the enforcement of the law.
They urged members of the public to assist authorities by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or illicit alcohol production.
“The National Police Service remains steadfast in its mission to combat the distribution and consumption of illicit drugs and alcohol nationwide,” a police statement read.
