The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has dismissed reports alleging that Adani Group has been re-engaged in the modernisation of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
In a statement released on Tuesday, March 3, the Authority rejected claims published by a local daily, clarifying that it has no ongoing or renewed dealings with the Indian conglomerate.
KAA emphasised that its earlier Privately Initiated Proposal arrangement with Adani was formally terminated and that the firm has neither been reconsidered nor contacted regarding any subsequent projects.

The Authority further stated that the ongoing expansion works at JKIA are fully government-funded and are being implemented in strict compliance with applicable legal and procurement frameworks.
The Acting Managing Director, Mohamud Gedi, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to transparency and accountability in all its undertakings.
Gedi assured stakeholders that KAA would maintain open channels of communication and provide timely updates to the public regarding any developments or engagements related to its projects.
As reported by The Standard, Opposition figures alleged that certain senior State officials were exploring possible legal avenues to facilitate the return of Adani Group to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport modernisation programme.
However, President William Ruto previously announced the termination of the agreement with Adani after the firm was implicated in fraud investigations by U.S. authorities.
The conglomerate’s founder, Gautam Adani, was charged in the United States over allegations that he orchestrated a KSh32.5 billion bribery scheme and concealed the transactions to secure financing within the U.S. market.
