UDA Sweeps All Four Seats in February 26 By-Elections

The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secured a clean sweep after winning all four seats contested in the Thursday, February 26 by-election.

In the Isiolo South parliamentary race, UDA candidate Mohamed Tubi garnered 7,352 votes to clinch the seat, defeating his sister Bina Mohammed, who ran on a Jubilee Party ticket. 

Bina received 634 votes, while National Economic Development Party candidate Isack Abduba Fayo finished third with 44 votes.

Isiolo South Returning Officer Abdi Sheikh subsequently declared Tubi the Member of the National Assembly–elected for Isiolo South Constituency and issued him with the certificate from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

UDA’s Duncan Muratia secured victory in the Evurore ward by-election with 7,853 votes, defeating the Democratic Party of Kenya’s Albert Muchira, who received 1,940 votes.

In Muminji ward, Peterson Njau emerged the winner with 3,207 votes, ahead of DEB’s Boniface Ngari, who tallied 2,232 votes.

Elphas Shalakha of UDA also won the West Kabras ward by-election with 3,317 votes, surpassing DCP’s Bramwel Khaemba, who garnered 2,640 votes.

The UDA party extended congratulations to all four winners and expressed gratitude to the residents of Isiolo South, West Kabras, Muminji, and Evurore for electing UDA leaders in the Thursday mini-polls.

This follows the November 27, 2025, by-elections, in which the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) captured the majority of seats.

In those polls, UDA’s Kiprono Chemitei won the Baringo County Senate seat with 55,246 votes, while Hassan Ahmed Maalim of UDA was declared the winner in Mandera County’s Banissa Constituency with 10,431 votes.

ODM’s Harrison Garama Kombe claimed the Magarini seat in Kilifi County with 17,999 votes. UDA’s Leo Wa Muthende secured the Mbeere North parliamentary seat with 15,802 votes, and David Ndakwa of UDA won Malava in Kakamega County with 21,564 votes.

ODM candidates also triumphed in Siaya and Homa Bay, with Moses Okoth taking Ugunja Constituency with 9,447 votes and Boyd Were Ongondo winning Kasipul Constituency with 16,819 votes.
