The Linda Mwananchi tour was led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna who vowed to remain unbowed as thousands of supporters turned up at Amalemba Grounds in Kakamega County.
During the Linda Mwanachi tour, he was accompanied by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka among others.
Despite teargas and security concerns, Sifuna vowed to continue with the rally to the end no matter what happens.
He therefore urged the crowd not to panic and not throw stones at the police officers in return.
“I want to tell you why I am being targeted. It is because I keep reminding William Ruto that he had an agreement with Raila Odinga to respect the rights of the people, including devolution”, Sifuna said.
Speaking to the crowd, the leaders promised to fight for the rights and interests of ordinary people insisting that they won’t be silenced.
According to Orengo, Raila had a clear vision anchored on a 10-point agenda.
He also maintained that the memorandum of understanding signed earlier stipulated that ODM could not enter into a coalition arrangement.
On the other hand, Babu Owino backed Sifuna by saying that the event would not end because of the teargas from the police.
“We have said this movement will not end. Teargas cannot stop it. Hot water cannot stop it. The government cannot stop it. It must continue,” Babu Owino addressed the crowd.
