Alleged Bahati’s biological mother is set to undergo counselling before receiving the results of their DNA test.
According to Dr. Thuo, the specialist overseeing the paternity test, the importance of counselling before the results will be to prepare both Bahati and the woman for the potential emotional impact.
“Before Bahati and the mother receive the results, we conduct counselling. In fact, the process begins with counselling, after which we hand over the results and then address the impact of those results,” Dr. Thuo said.
“For this DNA test, the procedure will be conducted in the laboratory where we will take blood samples. The results will be ready in two weeks, which means you cannot receive them today,” he added.
According to the doctor, the results are expected to be ready within two weeks, clarifying that they cannot be provided on the same day the samples are taken.
He also noted that a paternity test will confirm whether a child inherits 50 per cent of their DNA from the father and 50 per cent from the mother.
“The results will come sealed, and if you wish to open them here, you may do so,” he said.
Dr. Thuo added that the DNA test being conducted is a standard paternity test, which costs Ksh20,000 at the hospital.
