State Opens Inquiry Into Viral Russian Man Videos Sparked Online Uproar

The government of Kenya has launched investigations into the alleged abuse and exploitation of Kenyan women by a Russian national.

The new development follows viral reports and videos of that circulated online.

In the video, the foreigner was seen approaching women, asking for their contact and later on seeking to have some privacy with them.

It is alleged that the man used his spectacles to record the women without their consent so that they wouldn’t know.

In a statement on Monday, February 16, 2026, the Ministry of Gender, Culture, and Children Services, condemned the videos, which appeared to have been filmed without the women’s consent.

“The Ministry of Gender, Culture, and Children Services strongly condemns the disturbing incident in which a foreign national is alleged to have secretly recorded and circulated intimate images of Kenyan women without their consent,” a statement from the Ministry stated.

According to the Ministry, filming women without their consent was a direct violation of personal dignity and privacy, which is guaranteed in the constitution.

“Relevant security, investigative and prosecutorial agencies have been directed to pursue the matter with urgency, including collaboration with international authorities given the cross-border nature of the case. Any individual found culpable will face the full force of Kenyan law under the Penal Code, the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, and all relevant statutes protecting women and children”, It added.

This comes days after the Ghanaian government also issued a statement against the same act which occurred in Ghana before it happened in Kenya.

In the statement, the Ministry said that such acts are a serious criminal offence and a violation of privacy and human dignity, directing the relevant Ghanaian authorities to immediately investigate the matter.
