Okutoyi Appeals for Ksh10M as Deadline Nears for Pro Tennis Switch

Kenyan tennis veteran Angella Okutoyi has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the start of her full-time professional tennis career.

In a recent post X formerly known as twitter, Okutoyi appealed to fans and well-wishers, locally and internationally, to help her boost her tennis career into a professional.

The Year-old is currently studying at Aluburn University in Alabama, in the United States on a full scholarship.

She is also competing on the ITF professional tour, and has won 17 titles after reaching 26 finals since November 2022.

Okutoyi has achieved high career rankings of 414 in singles and 223 in doubles.

“I believe in my ability to get to the top. I certainly have the determination to do so. But ability and determination alone cannot be enough. In order for me to compete on a level playing field, I will need at least Ksh 40 million per annum to cover the costs of my coaching team,” she stated.

She is now appealing for crowdfunding of Ksh 10 million of which, as per the time of this writing by Whisperswire, the public has already contributed Ksh 24,000.
