Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has awarded his son, Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a military medal recognising his leadership in regional anti-terror and stabilisation operations.
According to reports, the award was presented during the 45th Tarehe Sita celebrations in Kabale District, which mark the anniversary of the National Resistance Army’s 1981 bush war launch.
Further reports indicate that the medal was given as a result of Kainerugaba’s command in operations against the Al-Shabaab insurgency, as well as his role in missions across the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Somalia.
” He previously commanded operations against Al-Shabaab up to 2022 and directly executed strategic missions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of South Sudan, and Somalia, all aimed at eliminating terrorism and creating a stable region,” teb Uganda’s People Defence Forces (UPDF) stated.
