Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has ordered immediate action against six senior police commanders following a brutal assault at Nandi Hills pool scandal.
This comes after a disturbing eight-minute CCTV video emerged showing uniformed officers beating young men at a pool hall on January 10, 2026.
The footage , which went viral, had captured officers armed with guns and batons storming the recreational facility in Nandi Hills town.
The footage followed reaction from the public which raised questions about the authority in Kenya.
The incident led to the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) conducting investigation and submitting the recommendations that Kanja has now accepted and implemented against senior commanders.
In the directive issued by Kanja, he did not reveal what administrative action has been taken, but ordinarily the actions include interdiction or suspension, transfer or redeployment, warning or reprimand, loss of rank, salary stoppage or in the worst case dismissal from service.
He further extended sympathies to the victims and reaffirmed its commitment to dealing firmly with illegal acts in accordance with the law.
