Traffic along Ngong Road was partially disrupted on Sunday morning, January 25, after a billboard collapsed opposite Prestige Plaza.
Preliminary information indicates that the structure gave way under its own weight, falling onto a taxi carrying a driver and a passenger.
The passenger sustained serious injuries in the incident and was rushed for medical attention, while the taxi was extensively damaged after being crushed by the billboard.

Images seen by Kenyans.co.ke show the fallen billboard lying across one side of the dual carriageway, temporarily blocking traffic and causing minor delays along the busy route.
The incident was first brought to public attention by Nairobi’s Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement, Geoffrey Mosiria, who revealed that shortly after the collapse, some youths attempted to steal metal components from the fallen billboard.
Mosiria stated that the accident occurred at around 3:00 am, briefly rendering a section of Ngong Road near Prestige Plaza impassable.
Motorists were advised to use alternative routes as emergency responders moved in to clear the twisted metal debris from the roadway.
Although the exact cause of the collapse has not been established, preliminary assessments point to possible structural failure, with prolonged vibrations and metal fatigue suspected to have weakened the billboard over time.
