Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba Migos has clarified the cancellation of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results for 1,180 candidates.
Speaking on Friday, January 9, Migos noted that the action followed confirmed cases of examination irregularities and was carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the integrity of the examination system.
“I wish to reiterate our stand on the integrity of examinations. At the conclusion of the KCSE examination, 1,180 candidates were found to have been involved in examination irregularities. Consequently, and in line with the applicable law and regulations, their examination results have been cancelled,” he noted.

The 2025 KCSE results were released during a ceremony at AIC Chebisaas High School in Uasin Gishu County.
A total of 1,932 students achieved a mean grade of A Plain in the 2025 KCSE examination, reflecting an increase from the 1,693 students who attained the same grade in 2024.
The 1,932 candidates represent 0.19% of all exam takers, marking a slight improvement in top-performing students compared to the previous year.
270,715 students achieved the university entry grade of C+ and above, representing 27.81% of candidates, up from 246,391 students (25.53%) in 2024.
A total of 507,131 students scored C- and above, accounting for 50.92% of candidates, while 634,082 students attained D+ and above, an increase from 605,774 in 2024.
National schools produced the highest number of A Plain students, with 1,526 achieving the top grade, followed by extra-county schools with 197 and private schools with 185.
Sub-County schools led in the number of students scoring C+ and above, totaling 72,699, surpassing county schools.
