MSMEs Department Unveils New Partnership with Kasmuel McOure

The State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development has announced a partnership with ODM Youth League member Kasmuel McOure as part of efforts to expand outreach to young entrepreneurs.

In a statement issued on Thursday, December 18, MSMEs Development Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni said the collaboration is aimed at widening the department’s reach by working closely with youth-led structures.

She noted that partnering with McOure, who convenes the Broad-Based Youth Front, will help ensure young people access timely information, opportunities, and tools to enhance their economic prospects.

Mang’eni added that the partnership will focus on promoting key government programmes that support youth-led enterprises and MSMEs.

She moreover noted that the goal is to increase awareness and participation in initiatives that provide financing, infrastructure, and enterprise development support.

The partnership follows the launch of the Broad-Based Youth Front a week earlier, a platform McOure said would directly lobby the government on youth interests.

In a statement issued on December 9, McOure said the movement would not take direction from politicians who did not participate in the June 2024 protests, emphasizing that the group would represent young people directly without political intermediaries.

McOure said the Broad-Based Youth Front will engage leaders across government, particularly within President William Ruto’s administration, which he noted bears public responsibility.

He added that the movement will reach out to youth leagues across the broad-based formation, starting with UDA, to present a youth blueprint, while also pushing the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports over what he termed failure to deliver for young people.
