Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has been honored with the prestigious 2025 Vanguard Warrior Award by the International Commission of Jurists Kenya (ICJ-Kenya) for his steadfast defense of the Constitution and human rights.
The award was presented during a ceremony on Thursday, December 11, 2025, attended by prominent figures in the legal fraternity.
It recognizes Omtatah’s fearless pursuit of accountability through strategic public interest litigation that has challenged government overreach.

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo lauded Omtatah for his unwavering commitment to justice and his role as a champion of constitutional integrity.
Omtatah has established himself as one of Kenya’s leading public interest litigators, known for challenging government policies he considers unconstitutional.
Among his notable achievements are successfully halting the implementation of the controversial Huduma Namba system, contesting judicial appointments, and spearheading legal challenges against the Finance Act 2024, a move that ignited nationwide protests.
