Jeff Koinange Back on JKLive After Extended Absence

Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange made an unexpected comeback to JKLive on Wednesday, December 10, ending a six-month break from the screen.

Ayub Abdikadir, who had been hosting the programme during Koinange’s absence, welcomed him back as the prime-time broadcast began.

Koinange remarked that speculation about his whereabouts had escalated online during his time away, with some users making extreme claims about his condition.

He went on to reflect on the experience of returning to his usual spot on the JKLive set after months off air.

For his first episode back on air, Koinange featured Prof. PLO Lumumba and Barrack Muluka as his guests.

This comes days after the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) condemned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over remarks he made against Citizen TV journalist Stephen Letoo.

The comments were made on Wednesday, December 3, where Gachagua openly criticised the journalist and called for his dismissal.

In a statement on Thursday, December 4, the council warned that such comments by a senior political figure put the journalist’s life at risk.

MCK went on to call on security agencies to ensure journalists are protected, adding that the media will continue doing its work despite intimidation.
