DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has appointed candidates who were defeated in the November 27, 2025 by-elections to the DCP National Executive Council.
Gachagua announced the appointments on December 4, 2025 via his social media platforms, noting that the individuals were being recognised for their commitment and for upholding party ideals during the polls.
He appointed Stanley Kenga, the DCP Magarini candidate who lost to ODM’s Harrison Garama Kombe, among others, to the council.

In the Magarini race, Kenga secured 8,907 votes, while his main opponent Harrison Kombe clinched victory with 17,909 votes.
Gachagua also appointed Edgar Busiega, who had been lined up as the DCP candidate for the Malava by-election.
Busiega stepped down after the united opposition pact endorsed DAP-K’s Seth Panyako—who ultimately lost to UDA’s David Ndakwa.
Another appointee is Simon Sonare, the DCP Purko Ward MCA candidate who was defeated by UDA’s Mpusia Alex.
Gachagua’s decision to reward the by-election losers is part of a broader effort to strengthen the DCP, which was launched on May 15, 2025.
The party now counts three elected MCAs in its first year and is positioning itself as a key challenger to President William Ruto’s UDA in the 2027 general elections.
