Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has voiced alarm over his security after a live round struck a nearby home, just metres from his Kibiku residence on Sunday, November 30.
The incident occurred while the governor was inspecting his compound.
The bullet tore through the roof of a neighbour’s house and landed close to a child’s bed, leaving the family deeply unsettled after hearing a sudden, forceful bang before discovering the damage.

According to Wamatangi, specialists who assessed the bullet indicated it was likely discharged from a high-powered rifle, a finding that raises fresh questions about the shooter’s range and possible intentions.
He noted that the bullet’s flight path suggested it may have originated from well outside the immediate neighbourhood.
The neighbour who found the bullet just inches from a child’s sleeping area described the frightening moment it struck the rooftop.
She initially assumed a stone had hit the house, only later realizing the gravity of the incident after noticing damage to the iron sheets and discovering the lodged projectile.
The incident comes months after Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga reported fears for his safety following an attack on one of his vehicles by armed individuals.
Magwanga had earlier told the media that he received credible information that unknown persons were trailing him as he travelled home, prompting him to alter his usual route.
A separate vehicle carrying his security detail was later ambushed as it headed to his residence, leading to an exchange of gunfire as the officers responded to the threat.
Following the attack, Magwanga said he had taken additional precautionary measures as police continued investigations into the attempted assault.
