16 Suspects Arrested After Attack on MP Kaluma at Kasipul Polling Station

Police in Homa Bay County have arrested 16 suspected armed gang members believed to be connected to the attack on Hon. 

Peter Kaluma at the Agoro Sare Primary School polling station during the Kasipul Constituency by-election.

According to a press statement issued by the National Police Service on November 28, 2025, the suspects are thought to have played a role in the chaos that unfolded during the voting exercise.

Images shared online captured the moment an armed group confronted and assaulted the MP, leaving him injured.

Following the November 27 attack, police launched a wide-ranging manhunt to track down those involved. 

The operation saw officers intercept five vehicles and two motorcycles linked to the suspects. A search of the vehicles uncovered 10 pangas, five knives, and several rungus and stones.

The 16 suspects are being held in custody and will be arraigned once investigations are complete.

In a statement, the National Police Service condemned the attack on MP Peter Kaluma and the disruption at the polling station, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peaceful, secure, and transparent electoral processes. 

The Service added that operations will continue to curb criminal activities during the election period.
