ODM’s Harrison Kombe Wins Magarini By-Election

ODM’s Harrison Kombe has been declared the MP-elect for Magarini after emerging victorious in the by-election held on Thursday, November 27.

According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Kombe garnered 17,909 votes, defeating Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Stanley Kenga, who received 8,907 votes.

Kombe previously lost the Magarini seat in 2024 when the Supreme Court upheld a ruling nullifying his 2022 election victory.

The petition had been filed by Kenga, who had narrowly trailed Kombe by just 21 votes—11,925 to 11,946.

The High Court cited significant irregularities in the initial election, leading to its nullification.

The party also secured a seat in Kasipul, where Boyd Were Ongondo of ODM was declared the winner at the constituency tallying centre.

Were secured the seat after defeating Independent candidate Philip Aroko, who had mounted a notable challenge throughout the campaign period.

His victory grants him the mandate to represent Kasipul in the National Assembly until the 2027 General Election.

According to the IEBC, Were garnered 16,819 votes, while Aroko received 8,476 votes.
