Activist Shakira Wafula has announced her resignation from David Maraga’s Presidential Campaign Political Committee.
In a statement released on Monday, November 17, Wafula said she reached the decision to step down as secretary of the political committee after a period of deep reflection.
She explained that her departure was driven by differences in core values and priorities within the campaign.
While the campaign champions the slogan “Reset, Restore, and Rebuild,” Wafula noted that achieving these ideals requires stronger alignment on fundamental principles.

She added that the divergence in these values prompted her exit, expressing hope that her resignation would inspire renewed focus on integrity, transparency, and ethical leadership within the campaign.
The activist thanked Maraga for the opportunity to serve on his presidential campaign team, noting that the experience offered her valuable insight into Kenya’s political processes and the work needed to strengthen governance.
She also wished the remaining team members well, urging them to uphold integrity and a people-centered approach as they continue with the campaign.
Maraga appointed Wafula to his campaign team on July 28, alongside six other members: Carolyne Kiarie, Gloria Michira, Lewis Ngunyi, Nyamisa Chelagat, Shallet Kutment, and Susan Lumumba.
