Senegalese President Faye Arrives for Mashujaa Day

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has arrived in Kenya ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled to be held in Kitui County.

President Faye touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Sunday evening, October 19, where he was received by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya.

In a statement, CS Mvurya confirmed that the Senegalese leader will be the chief guest at this year’s Mashujaa Day event.

During his visit, President Faye is also expected to engage in discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between Kenya and Senegal.

This marks President Faye’s first visit to Kenya since assuming office as Senegal’s Head of State in April 2024. 

During his visit, he is expected to hold talks with President Ruto focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, youth empowerment, and continental unity.

President Ruto will lead the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County, where thousands of Kenyans are expected to gather to honor the heroes and heroines who contributed to the nation’s freedom and development.
