A police officer has been reportedly apprehended following the shooting of a woman during a night vigil in Homabay County.
According to reports, it was confirmed on October 17, 2025, that a woman had allegedly been shot during a vigil held in honour of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Thursday, October 16, 2025, and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) had been notified of the incident.
Reports indicate that she was killed as she was heading home on Thursday night near the entrance of Homa Bay police station.
The chaos were witnessed when mourners threw stones at the police station, prompting an on-duty officer to open fire.At that moment, a woman was hit by a stray bullet.
She reportedly died from her injuries while receiving treatment at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital
