Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has officially declared Friday, October 17, a public holiday in honour of the departed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
In a gazette notice dated October 16, CS Murkomen noted that the holiday is in honour of the late Raila Odinga.
The notice comes after Deputy President Kithure Kindiki revealed the full funeral programme for the late ODM leader.

As part of the arrangements, a state funeral will be held on Friday, beginning with a national service at Nyayo Stadium.
The service is expected to draw dignitaries and leaders from across the globe, providing an opportunity for the nation and the international community to pay their respects and honour the life and legacy of the former Prime Minister.
After the service, the body of the late will be taken to his Karen home for an overnight stay before leaving for Kisumu on Saturday, October 18, where there will be a public viewing at Moi Stadium between 9 am and 3 pm.
Raila will be buried on Sunday, October 19, and the funeral will be conducted by the Anglican Church in accordance with his faith and family traditions.
The ODM leader passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 80 in Kochi, India.
According to reports, he suffered a cardiac arrest during a morning walk at an Ayurvedic treatment facility and was rushed to a private hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
