Kimani Mbugua began his media career at just 19, joining the Nation Media Group as a presenter for Nation FM and NTV before later moving to Citizen TV.
On March 31, former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko facilitated his admission to a rehabilitation center — the second time he had sought treatment.
This came after reports that Mbugua, who had been battling substance abuse, had relapsed and was seen wandering the streets of Thika Town.
Prior to Sonko’s intervention, Mbugua had shared a video online pleading for help.
On May 16, 2024, Oga Obinna disclosed that he and Mbugua’s father, along with several friends, took the media personality to Mathari Hospital for rehabilitation.
The intervention followed an interview hosted by Oga Obinna, during which Mbugua’s father revealed that his son was battling bipolar disorder.
He also took the opportunity to apologise to individuals who had been affected or insulted by Mbugua through his online videos.
