Gachagua Throws Shade at Ruto– Gideon Moi Reunion

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has taken a swipe at President William Ruto and KANU chairman Gideon Moi following their recent political truce.

Ruto and Moi agreed to put aside their long-standing rivalry and partner under the broad-based government.

The two leaders met twice last week, with the second meeting taking place at Moi’s Kabarak home in Nakuru County.

Ruto later announced that KANU would enter a formal working pact with the Kenya Kwanza administration to strengthen their cooperation.

However, reacting to the development, Gachagua dismissed the move as insincere, claiming it was driven by personal interests rather than genuine unity.

Speaking  while in Embu, where he had accompanied other opposition honchos in a political tour, Gachagua blasted Ruto for enhancing tribalism while calling his opponents out over the same.

Gachagua accused President Ruto of hypocrisy, saying he condemned other leaders for uniting along tribal lines while doing the same with KANU boss Gideon Moi — his fellow Kalenjin kinsman.

The former deputy president claimed that the Ruto–Moi alliance was part of a broader plan to weaken the Mt Kenya region politically.

He alleged that while Ruto was busy consolidating support in his Rift Valley backyard, he had deployed his deputy, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, to sow division among Mt Kenya communities.

At the same time, Gachagua cautioned Mt Kenya politicians opposing his faction, claiming they were being used by Ruto to fragment the region. He warned that such leaders would not be tolerated.
