Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has moved to reassure Kenyans over the health of ODM leader Raila Odinga, dismissing circulating reports that suggested the former Prime Minister was unwell.
Addressing the matter on Thursday, October 9, Oburu confirmed that Raila is currently in India, where he is taking time to rest and recuperate following a brief illness.
He described Raila’s condition as stable and improving, urging Kenyans to ignore misinformation spreading online and through certain media outlets.

Oburu further appealed for calm and privacy as the ODM leader continues his recovery.
The remarks by Oburu follow similar assurances from Raila’s wife, Ida Odinga, who on Tuesday, October 7, dismissed reports questioning the ODM leader’s health.
Ida confirmed that Raila is in good shape and only taking a short rest, expressing disappointment over the growing wave of misinformation.
She urged Kenyans to be responsible and avoid spreading false or alarmist claims about his wellbeing.
In an update on Tuesday, October 7, ODM Communications Director Philip Etale said he had spoken to Raila Odinga, who was in high spirits.
The clarification followed a weekend of intense speculation on social media over Raila’s health and whereabouts.
Earlier, on Sunday, October 5, Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango accused a faction allied to Rigathi Gachagua of spreading misinformation to pressure the ODM leader into joining their political battles against President William Ruto.
Onyango added that Raila left the country on Friday, October 3, for a private trip abroad.
