Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have rescued a 6-year-old girl who had been reported missing on September 22, 2025.
In a statement, DCI noted that the minor went missing after she was picked up from school by a stranger.
The family’s efforts to trace the six-year-old were futile.
Shortly afterward, the child’s mother received a message from an unknown number demanding a ransom of Ksh300,000 for her release.

The family of the 6-year-old girl reported her kidnapping at Runda Police Station on September 22.
DCI detectives quickly launched a forensic-led operation that traced the child to Soweto slums in Kibra.
Officers raided the area and found the girl asleep inside an unfinished church building, where her school uniform and shoes were also recovered.
The suspected kidnapper, however, managed to escape moments before the detectives arrived.
The rescued child was taken to a medical facility for treatment and observation.
Meanwhile, police have intensified a manhunt for the suspect to ensure justice is served.
