United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar has publicly opposed Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen’s decision to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
Speaking at Uhuru Park on Sunday, September 21, during a solidarity event for Palestine, Omar said he could not support the move.
The UDA SG went on to call on the government to cut ties with Israel, saying the country stands to gain more from the Muslim world than from Israel.

Interior CS, through a special Gazette notice issued on September 19, formally declared the Muslim Brotherhood and Hizb-ur-Tahrir as terrorist organizations.
The designation makes it a criminal offense to hold membership in, provide financial or logistical support to, or engage in propaganda activities on behalf of the two groups.
The order will remain in force indefinitely unless revoked either by a court of law or by the Interior Cabinet Secretary.
Kenya now joins countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Russia, which have previously outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood.
Founded in Egypt in 1928, the group began as a grassroots movement focused on promoting Islamic values, education, and social welfare, while opposing Western influence.
Over the decades, it has grown into a transnational organization with networks in the Middle East, Europe, and parts of Africa.
Hizb-ur-Tahrir, on the other hand, was established in 1953 and is known for its push to establish a global Islamic Caliphate.
The group has been banned in several countries over security concerns linked to its ideology and organizational activities.
