Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has again suffered a major setback in his bid to have his 12-year prison sentence reviewed after the High Court rejected his application.
In a statement, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said Lady Justice Lucy Njuguna on Tuesday, September 16, dismissed Waititu’s bid to overturn his sentence.
Justice Njuguna moreover directed that the sentencing remain in force until the hearing and determination of Waititu’s appeal.

She went on to order that the appeal be fast-tracked and concluded within 120 days, cautioning that any delays by the defense could result in the case being struck out.
The matter is set to be mentioned again in court on October 1, 2025.
In the ruling delivered by Milimani Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki, his wife, Susan Wangari, was fined Ksh500,000.
The two were convicted of fraud and conflict of interest in a Ksh588 million graft case linked to a county road tender awarded in 2018 during Waititu’s tenure as governor.
According to the ODPP, the duo unlawfully benefited from the tender through their company by engaging in fraudulent procurement practices.
