A Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer has been arrested after allegedly shooting dead two boda boda riders in Thika on Sunday, September 7.
According to reports, the officer, identified as Constable Eric G.N. from DCI Headquarters, was involved in a minor accident near Makongeni Police Station between his Audi and a motorcycle.
Eyewitnesses noted that the officer appeared drunk and aggressive, and during a heated confrontation, he opened fire, killing two men on the spot.

Reports indicate that those involved headed to Makongeni Police Station to file a report, prompting traffic officers to be dispatched to the scene.
Thika West Police Commander confirmed that the alert was made at about 5:33 a.m., with officers arriving roughly 17 minutes later.
However, by the time officers from Makongeni Police Station arrived at the accident scene, the DCI officer had already shot and killed the two riders.
After the incident, angry residents torched the officer’s Audi despite efforts by fellow riders to contain the situation.
Constable Eric was quickly disarmed, placed under arrest, and his firearm confiscated. The victims’ bodies were taken to the General Cargo Mortuary as investigations continue.
