MSS Officer Dies, Eight Others Injured in Road Accident in Haiti

One Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) officer was killed on August 31, after being involved in an accident in Haiti.

In a statement, MSS spokesperson Jack Ombaka noted that the accident occurred along the Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at the Perlerin 9 area.

The officers were on a recovery operation involving two MaxxPro vehicles.

During the process, one vehicle was towing the other when it developed mechanical problems, leading to the accident.

The accident resulted in two deaths: one MSS officer and a Haitian civilian.

The two were pronounced dead after being rushed to Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville.

Eight other MSS officers sustained injuries, with three of them said to be in a critical condition.

Ombaka moreover disclosed that the three injured officers require medical evacuation to the Dominican Republic for specialized treatment.

He further extended condolences to the families who lost their kin in the Sunday evening accident.
