MP Oscar Sudi Announces Exit from Church Fundraisers

Kapseret Member of Parliament  Oscar Sudi has announced that he will no longer participate in church fundraising activities, instead he will be focusing on community empowerment projects.

Speaking on August 27, Sudi noted that the decision comes as a result of criticism from certain church leaders.

“You’ve heard how some church people keep saying all sorts of things and making noise. I’ve decided to put church matters aside. Next year, I’ll focus only on empowerment, and I’ll do it right here in Kapseret throughout the year. My goal is to reach the youth, women, and elders so that we can come together where it really matters,” he said.

Notably, this comes weeks after Sudi stated that it was not the politicians’ fault for participating in church harambees.

Taking to his social media on November 19, the lawmaker explained that local church leaders are the ones who approach them to assist in raising funds for various projects.

He went on to maintain that politicians would continue giving to the church as they are also part of the body of Christ.

He also called on the church leaders to forgive them for any wrongdoings, further calling upon them to guide the current political leadership where necessary.
